Either in the 'Self Park' lane, curb away from the front doors (not taxi stand side) or directly in front of the doors?
Rivers Casino Des Plaines - Chicago (IL). IMHO I don't think that the existing area casinos.. Horseshoe.. Harrah's.. Hollywood, etc have a thing to worry about. I made my first and last trip to the casino on Friday the 2. ND. While I expected it to be crowded.. I didn't expect it to be so small! Limited selection and variety of video poker machines (what I play) and looked like small number of slots. People were playing 2 machines, which I couldn't believe they would let happen. Don't know about food as I don't go to a casino to eat. I'll leave this casino for the Ohare crown and convention crowd.> > All the reviews are true!!! My experience was very bad. First of all, Security was very rude. This casino is too small. God forbid if an emergency occurred. The table games are too close to the slots. I will not be going back to this casino. I didn't get a chance to gamble because it was so crowded. There were people siting at slot machine who was not gambling and security didn't seem to care when I mentioned it. Some people was playing 2 machines, which I think should not have happen on opening day. The restaurant Flipt was BAD!!! I had to help some of the seniors read the menu, because they didn't know what the price of the food were. I ordered a burger and fries, and the fries were horrible. They looked liked scrappings of left over potatoes. The staff at Flipt was very pollite though. Whoever designed the layout of the place did a terrible job, and the owners shouble get a refund. The parking lot is not posted with letters or numbers to remember where you parked your car. It took me 2. 0 minutes to find my car and I didn't have a drink! This was my daughter's first experience at a casino and she said she didn't want to go back. I would rather travel 6. Four Winds, or go to Blue Chip casinos. Show full review> > This place is small, but not bad. Went on Sat morning, $1. Blackjack tables. The one thing I realised very quickly was that this was a new casino and that ment that there were inevitable issues. Our dealer was having a hard time with everything from card counting to, wining hands and payouts. Additionally the cashier cage was backed up quite a bit as the supervisor was trying to get all the cashiers to properly store the cashed in chips in the racks. I think it helps if you realize that this is a new casino, more to the point, a new casino in an area that has never had one before, therfore, most employees have never worked at a casino and may not know the ins and outs that many who go to casino's regularly are used to. Other than that, I did ended up leaving $5. I went to the casino with friends this afternoon around 2pm, it was rather crowdy but we still managed to make our way through the casino, played some slots and it was VERY CLEAN, unlike those casinos in Elgin and Aurora. The restroom is squeaky clean, and even there's an attendant there to ensure the cleaniness of the restroom. We then ate at Flipt and my godness, their hamburger is so amazing! It's kinda pricey, but it was worth every penny! I'd definitely go back there again!> > This place is clean, but looks like security personal also works for TSA.> > Very small, overcrowded although I suspect that will change once the newness wears off, but even with fewer people - the place is small, ceilings are low, it's dark and depressing..$5 ATM fees and $4 beers..$2. I mean, $2. 5??? For real? Rude, pushy customers and absolutely NO security presence.. Awful experience. I couldn't wait to get out, but of course I had to fight the throngs of people to do that too.> > Went tonight! Was looking forward to it. All redemption machines went down for hours. Cashier line was 1. JUST to cash your vouchers in. I feel that the casino should have immediately had people all around cashing peoples coupons for them. Huge mistake on their part. ATM fees. Dumb. I will never go back to this casino as it was so small, and the respect they had for their clients tonight was disgraceful.> > I thought the decor was much nicer than any of the other land based or River Boat casinos. The neighborhood is very nice and you don't need a bodyguard to walk you to your car, like some of the other casinos. Obviously the people who won are going to say it's nice and the people who lost are going to pick it apart. Lets face it,everybody is not going to win, nobody stays in business to loose money, would you go to work if you didn't get a paycheck? A few people complained about the unfriendly staff, what they don't realize is some of the staff was working 1. I might get a little cranky myself after working 1. These are first time jobs for a lot of people and like any new business ,they need to improve in some areas. If you go back and visit 6 months from now and have the same complains,I say you have a valid argument. The food at the buffet was great, the workers were friendly to me,and answered all of my questions. The security staff was .. River Boat casinos. If you are the kind of person that is going to critique this place under a microscope, you may want to wait a couple of months before you go and let them work out the kinks. But if your an easy going person who is just looking to go have some good food and a nice time in a nice environment, and you don't expect to win,go fight the crowd for the grand opening! Was told that in order to have a poker room, they would need to remove some of the 3card poker tables etc. Illinois gambling laws! For blackjack, the minimum was $2. No $1. 0 or $5 tables exist! For 3card or 4card poker the minimum is $1. Very crowded. Too many people, not enough tables. Long lines (long wait) to cash out, regardless if you are cashing out chips or cashing out a ticket from slots - Parking indicator lights in the ceiling of the garage didn't work properly. Why have them if they don't work? Ugh, totally lack luster and not impressed. At this point, the place is too new and too much of a novelty to even remotely give a fair shake (although I'm really, really trying) but I have to be honest in my experience, and based upon first impressions it has earned less than one star, although I can't reflect that and I wish I could. I know it's new and all the kinks aren't worked out etc, but you can't claim to be one par with the "Big Boys" etc and then when its put up or shut up time - come to the table with no game, quite literally. We went last night on a Wednesday and parking was abysmal, it took well over an hour to do so, even the valet line was impossible. Let me also add a personal frustration of parking being so tight and at a premium and then people have the audacity to walk to their cars to sit in it and eat, hang out and then leave like 4. I after now having gone inside can understand this.. However, moving on and pardon the run on sentences, LOL.. The hubby and I went their last night prepared to have some fun, but the place is way (and I mean way) overcrowded (I'm pretty sure they've well exceeded fire code), all the redemption machines were broken.. Even the ATM's were not all entirely working, creating long lines all around. And of course, all the slots and tables were beyond slammed and crammed.. I walked around for over an hour trying to find just one slot I could sit at and my husband likewise to find a gaming table. On top of that - then when we needed money to start playing (we would have come prepared with case had we planned on coming here [it was completely spontaneous] - getting cash became impossible. Ladies & Gentleman, I've never been to a casino where trying to spend money was so blasting difficult.. I mean going to the movies would have been more expensive than the total amount I was able to spend here in gambling because it was impossible to get more money with the long lines to do so, let alone good luck find an open and available spot in any area in which to spend it - whether tables, average Joe Slots or in the High Limit areas.
